Carl G. Hawkins was born in Athens, Greece, to an American military veteran and a Greek mother. His early years took him from Athens to the island of Crete, then to Lakenheath, England, before his family settled in Melbourne, Florida when he was eight years old. That upbringing — across three countries and two continents before the fourth grade — instilled an early appreciation for navigating different systems, rules, and expectations.
He attended the University of South Florida for his undergraduate studies before enrolling at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida, where he earned his Juris Doctor. At Florida Coastal, he earned the CALI Book Award for Intellectual Property — recognizing the highest grade in the course — and completed the Business Law Certificate program, reflecting his early focus on the intersection of law and commerce.
Mr. Hawkins founded the firm in 2017 after observing a pattern in traditional law firm culture: the pressure to accumulate billable hours and advance toward partnership too often displaces the focus on client outcomes. In large firm environments, attorneys are incentivized to measure success by internal metrics — hours billed, clients originated, rungs climbed — rather than by the quality of the work delivered.
Operating independently eliminates that tension entirely. There is no managing partner to answer to, no origination credit to protect, and no political landscape to navigate. Every decision is made with one question in mind: what is the best result for this client?
That independence is not just a business model — it is a professional philosophy. Clients who hire this firm hire an attorney who is fully accountable to them and no one else.
